From template to signed PDF
You send the engagement letter on its own or as a step in a procedure. Your client reads and signs it in the client portal, and the signed PDF goes into the case file with a certificate. You can read how that proof works under digital signing.
Engagement letters and the law
Article 3(2)(c) Wwft requires you to establish the purpose and intended nature of the business relationship. A signed engagement letter puts that on record in the case file.
Under Article 3:15a of the Dutch Civil Code, the effect of an electronic signature depends on how reliable the method is. For an engagement letter, a simple electronic signature within the meaning of eIDAS is enough.
